Admission Criteria<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Admission to the Master\u2019s Program \u201cAncient Texts and Contemporary Readings\u201d of the Department of Philology at the University of Ioannina is based on the submission of an application dossier, following a call for applications issued within the first ten days of June each year, in accordance with Article 9.1 of the Master\u2019s Program Regulations, as in force.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Application Evaluation <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the selection of prospective postgraduate students, the following criteria are taken into consideration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a)<\/strong> Undergraduate degree grade (20%), which must not be lower than 6.5 (Very Good).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b)<\/strong> The average grade in specialization courses during the undergraduate program (30%). The specialization courses belong to the following fields of study:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ancient Greek \/ Latin Language and Literature<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Methodology and Critical Analysis of Ancient Texts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Reception of Ancient Texts in Contemporary Sciences and Arts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Palaeography and Epigraphy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candidates who have not completed specialization courses during their undergraduate studies will receive 0% for the related criterion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c)<\/strong> The oral interview, scored from 0 to 10, accounts for 30% of the overall evaluation. All members of the evaluation committee assess the interview, and the candidate\u2019s average score is calculated (the passing grade is 6). The interview evaluates the candidate\u2019s philological knowledge and critical thinking skills through questions related to Classical Philology and its methodologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

d)<\/strong> Previous research or writing experience related to the Master\u2019s Program\u2019s academic fields, contributing 10% to the overall evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

e)<\/strong> Certified knowledge of additional foreign languages beyond the required B2 level, contributing 10% to the overall evaluation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Candidates are ranked based on their final scores, with a minimum threshold of 60% required for admission to the Master\u2019s Program. The final list of successful applicants is confirmed by the Department Assembly. In the event of a tie, priority is given based on the average grade in specialization courses and performance in the oral interview.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
