Internship

As part of the Master’s Program “Ancient Texts and Modern Readings” offered by the Department of Philology at the University of Ioannina, students have the option to participate in an Internship. This optional activity offers them the chance to put into practice the theoretical and scientific knowledge gained throughout the program and to become familiar with potential professional environments related to their studies.
The Internship takes place in public services, legal entities governed by public law, local government organizations (both first and second level), private legal entities, and businesses, hereafter referred to as “host institutions.” It is carried out under the supervision of a faculty member of the program. The Internship may also be conducted in institutions abroad, provided that the supervision of the educational process can be ensured.
- An Internship Agreement is signed between the Higher Education Institution (HEI), the student, and the Host Institution. Successful completion of the Internship grants the student five (5) ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), which are recorded in the Diploma Supplement. These credits are independent of the total ECTS credits required for the award of the Master’s Degree. The Diploma Supplement also includes information about the type of Internship (see Article 9), the Host Institution, and the duration of the placement.
Participation Requirements
- 1. Students enrolled in the Master’s Program “Ancient Texts and Modern Readings” of the Department of Philology at the University of Ioannina are eligible to apply for the Internship at any time during the first year of their studies.
- 2. Students are required to be physically present at the Host Institution during their Internship. The Practicum cannot be conducted remotely or through distance participation.
- 3. For ethical reasons, a postgraduate student may not undertake an Internship at a Host Institution that is owned by, or employs, any of their relatives.
Required Documents
For all types of Internship (see Article 9), interested postgraduate students are required to submit the following:

3. A detailed transcript of courses and grades from both the first-cycle (undergraduate) and second-cycle (postgraduate) studies, up to the time of the Internship application.
Selection and Ranking Criteria
The selection and ranking criteria vary depending on the type of Internship chosen by the students (see Article 9).
In Case of a Tie: In the event of a tie during the evaluation, the following will be taken into account: the detailed transcript of first-cycle (undergraduate) and second-cycle (postgraduate) studies up to the time of the Internship application, the student’s Curriculum Vitae (CV), and the accompanying cover letter.
